                                                        MAKE A CHANGE
In no more than 100 years we will run out of food, crops, and  animals. No more tasty meals and really giant Christmas dinners. Do we really want that? Do YOU really want that? I don’t, that’s for sure. There are many ways we can help our planet rise from this food waste disaster such as having small portions, find alternative sources of food, and avoid over-buying.

I don’t know you but I personally don’t like to have a full plate in front of me: why? Well, because i found out that by having smaller portions you end up eating more and wasting less! Let me explain. When you have in front of you a plate full of steamed broccoli you will probably end up eating one or two and throw the rest away; while with smaller portions you might have five they will not be that many to scare you, and you will end up eating more broccoli and just waste 1 or maximum 2. This not only helps you with food you don't like, but it also makes us conscious of how much we are eating and not eat more than we should. We can explain this hack with a really easy sentence; remember, it’s better to cook more later than to waste!

This second one is the wildest one of them all. We are in 2020, a year that was thought to be the year of futuristic discoveries and we still didn’t find an alternative food resource: or that is what I thought until I ran into Marcel Dicke’s video  “Why not eat insects”. This video might seem disgusting at first but after a  bit you will realise that it will not be that bad after all. Insects are full of proteins, vitamins and many more things we need to have a correct diet. It will be one of the most efficient ways to stop animals from becoming extinct , just saying. This doesn't mean we should not eat meat at all, but to vary: from meat to insects.

This last one, avoid overbuying, could be done in many easy ways. One of the most common is to list everything you have to buy: that not only helps you with remembering what you need to buy but also prevents you from buying extra food. But we all know that we can’t resist the temptation of delicious sweets and amazing offers when it comes to grocery shopping. A way to avoid that is to bring less money: by doing that you will not be able to purchase as much extra food as you did before.

In conclusion I want to remind you that we have to try our best to stop food waste: it’s for our future! It’s for us! For our future family and to the future generations in general. These tips that i just told you will make a difference partly but if you want to help more there are many other ways to do it, that you can find on many websites such as Times and Food Safety. There are also many associations you can contact for information and to make a change. So, do YOU want that change? Do YOU want to make a change? If yes, what are you waiting for?

  1. I totally agree with you, about the fact of serving different portion because with a portion guide we could waste less food and everyone will be happy. I don't really like insects but I could try if by eating insects with could save our planet and some animals. Making a list is something very easy which take few minutes and help reducing food waste.

  2. I agree with you because your three facts are very easy to do and can make the difference for example the first thing that you want to do is to put less food in the plate that we are going to eat I think it is a great idea because all the children see that it is not too much food and they will eat it all.
